The AD (anaerobic
digester) technology developed by Bio4gas Express has a unique
patented thermo-gas-lift (TGL) design that offers: free biological
mixing, free heating, desulphurization together with high volume gas
production, within a single dual-chamber fermenter. The system use
as little as 3% of its own generated energy in comparison to 25 to
30% of the traditional AD systems.
This results in a much
smaller (small footprint) , singular and more cost effective
fermenter that is integrate into a current process and facility.
The design and operations of the fermeter allows that a cocktail of
available on site bio-waste can be used as a fuel for the fermenter
and no specialised energy crops is required. This obviously has a
significant implication on the economics and feasibility of the
bio-system.
The systems fermenter
sizes ranges from 200m3 up to 600m3, producing anything from 20kW up
to 500kW electrical dependent on the energy content of the
substrate. Units can be combined in a modular configuration to
offer flexibility in energy output and waste stream management.

The one of a kind
patented dual-chamber pressurised fermenter also allows for
simplified filling through pumping and no screw feeding is required,
ensuring problem- free feeding and substrate removal. Old fermented
substrate is also removed from the fermenter as and when new
substrate is added via the feed in pump system.
Once “charged” with the relevant biomass the system becomes a
continuous process of addition and release of substrate and will
produce methane gas that can be converted in electricity and heat.
The “waste” left after the 30-40 day of fermentation is a “nutrient
rich bio-fertilizer”. The overall higher quality fertilizer produced
has less smell and lower dry substance content ensuring more even
spread of the fertiliser, thus improving absorption.
The system can work with any biomass making it great for small rural
communities, commercial plant that produce bio-waste and
agricultural applications like piggeries, dairies, abattoirs and any
other process that generates a constant
supply of ABP (animal by-products) or bio-wastes, like waste food
and green cuttings.
